Chondroitin is an organic chemical compound from the glycosaminoglycan group. It is a mucopolysaccharide composed of glucuronic acid residues and N-acetylgalactosamine. It is an endogenous substance naturally produced by the body, with articular cartilage as its main site. However, with age, chondroitin levels and natural synthesis capacity decrease. It can be obtained from dietary sources like bovine cartilage or dietary supplements.
