Grape (Vitis vinifera L.) is a plant of the grapevine family, originally from Asia, but today cultivated mainly in Europe. It is a long-lived climber that can reach up to 40 meters in length, bearing small juicy berries with seeds inside.

Grape seeds are a source of macro- and micronutrients, as well as many bioactive compounds. The most important of these are oligomeric proanthocyanidins (PACs) – flavonoids with strong antioxidant potential.
